Change is good...

Notice anything different?

I got a new taller side table! It was really bothering me to have a shorter table on the other side of the couch. I could only stack so many books to get the lamps to be the same height. Most of my books are still in boxes so I just grabbed what I could find for now.

I love the look of these accordion/campaign tables and will probably get a smaller round one for my family room. This one was from Kirklands and it is still on sale. I would probably only get it at the sales price though it's not the sturdiest piece but not flimsy either.

One question though....do I have too many leggy pieces or X's in the room? I can move the x-benches to another room. If I do that I think I still want to find some way of having another pair of stools or something to act as coffee tables, I like the extra seating.

Here are some other rooms with fabulous tables like these...

Beautiful rooms, all of them! I love the way this seemingly simple table brings in some structure and masculinity to a space!

small updates to my home...

Hi Everyone! We have been on vacation and had a great time.  As I am catching up on housework (I feel I need a vacation from the vacation!) I thought I would show you a little bit of the updates around here.

I am still working on the arrangement and even the specific pieces. The paint color obviously needs to change, art needs to go on the wall but here is how the living room looks for now.

Sometimes with a house that needs a lot of work everywhere it is hard to pick a place to start! I am hoping to have some other projects underway soon to share with you!

I am also trying to figure out the best time of day to photograph this room. The large windows face west but I took these shots in the morning before 10am.  Any suggestions? Pin It

Gallery wall progress....

I am still working on my gallery wall but I thought I would take a picture of the progress in the room. The circle (sunburst mirror) needs to be moved up higher but that was as high as I could reach at the time. The blank area on the right is for the deer head.

I took this picture this past weekend but there have been some changes since then (we sold the rattan/glass coffee table) Little by little the rooms in my home will come together.

I have been toying with the idea of going a lot simpler with the arraignment. Mostly because I have a couple items I want to use, but I don't know how to incorporate the pieces without having the wall look like a hot mess.

Both of these were my grandmothers (the orange one she did herself) and I know they will have a place in  my home, somewhere...

I am considering using some rub and buff to get rid of the red border on the frame on the right. The art is chalk done on a fine velvet so I don't want to risk damaging it by getting a whole new frame.

I would love to hear your thoughts and comments!

Antlers in interior design

Look what we picked up from the taxidermist this weekend.

I am not a fan of hunting, but Mr. Rene is a hunter and I would like to honor that part of him in our home. I did have a slight win on this, we got a European mount instead of a full shoulder mount!

Here are some photos of antlers used in interior design
